Droits FFE/PSV

The Guidelines to Assess the Fitness for Transport of Equidae, produced following close collaboration between a European stakeholder group, coordinated by the World Horse Welfare and the Federation of European Equine Veterinary Associations (FEEVA), have just been released.

Several equestrian sports federations took part in the project, namely the French Equestrian Federation (FFE, Féderation Française d’Equitation), the Italian Equestrian Sports Federation (FISE) and the Belgian Confederation for the Horse (BCP-CBC).

The Guidelines, which were prefaced by the Director of the World organisation for animal health (OIE) and a representative of the European Commission, are designed as a visual guide with clear and simple methods to assess the fitness for transport of equidae, in order to help maintain good health among animals and humans, and prevent animal suffering.

We encourage you to take a look at this visual guide in view of your next move!

The guidelines are available by registering via FVE (Federation of Veterinarians of Europe)  www.fve.org .

The guidelines are currently available in English with Dutch, French, German, Italian, Polish, Romanian and Spanish versions available in the next few months.
